After week Six of the Paleo diet and the scale says my weight loss is at a standstill.

  • Font size: Larger Smaller

This post is gonna be short because I am writing this as I sit on the couch, trying to wake up after a sleepless night. So how much did I lose this past week? Nada, Zip, Zilch not one lb. Maybe it’s because I had a cheat day, which included pizza and hot wings. I know, I shouldn’t have, but it was way good, and going without some of the good stuff forever would be boring and life is way to short for boring.

The real question is why didn’t I get any sleep? I think its because I had way to much energy before going to bed. Since yesterday was a rest day for me I didn’t get to burn all the extra energy I’ve gained from clean eating. Here is how my night went. I went to bed and got up after two hours, staying up for another three, going back to bed and laying there for another three before finally dozing off. Of course this was just prior to the alarm ringing for a 0415 wakeup, which of course wasn’t happening, because by now I was exhausted. So here is what I believed happened. My diet has increased my energy levels to the point that if I don’t do something during the day to burn off the energy I am destined to get no sleep. So I am thinking that not doing anything on a rest day will actually hurt my chances at quality rest. That doesn’t mean that I plan on doing a full WOD on my rest day, but I think I’ll start throwing in a short row to burn off some energy. Especially since the majority of my day is spent in front of a computer.

But I don’t think the energy theory was the whole problem with me not getting any sleep, it was just the catalyst. Adding to the problem was the fact that we begin shooting our new movie this weekend and I couldn’t stop thinking about the details, over and over and over. My mind was racing all night long.

As for the diet, I am still way ahead of my goal and even if I didn’t lose any additional weight this past week I didn’t gain any either, which I’m happy with. Once again, it’s not as much about the weight loss, but fat loss, and from the look of things the fat keeps dropping

I’ll keep you posted. On my fat loss quest and diet.

See you in the hills, Lance
