Like a comfortable pair of shoes, CrossFit Tehachapi just feels right. Their small town hospitality, love of fitness and diversity makes them one of my all time favorites to visit. Their location inside Bear Valley springs, a small town just outside of Tehachapi, should be a hindrance, but somehow they make it work.
Here you will find every level of athlete, from the beginner to the advanced, and everyone is welcome. A visitor will never feel out of place because Ryan and Melissa’s genuine caring attitude makes everyone feel right at home.
From my own personal experience, it’s rare to walk into a gym and feel like part of their family within minutes of stepping through the door, but that’s just how the folks at CrossFit Tehachapi make you feel.
So how did they become a success in such a small town?
By adding yoga, self-defense and even CrossFit kid’s classes to their core adult CrossFit classes. In doing so, they have cornered the fitness market in their area.
I remember visiting one short year ago, when they were just getting ready to open. They had limited equipment, no steady athletes, and an uphill battle to fight. Today they proudly call their box home to over thirty-seven members.
Workout following a charity event where they delivered a total of 469 items (cash and food) to the Tehachapi Salvation Army.
Thirty-seven might seem small compared to some of the larger cities out there, but to gain that number in their small town is extraordinary, especially when another box is located less than fifteen miles away.
I think their growth can be attributed to their core beliefs and attitude. Here is a short interview I conducted with Ryan, a co-owner, during my latest visit, you can see first hand what I’m talking about.
See you in the hills, or sucking wind at CrossFit Tehachapi.
