Sorry for the lack of posts lately! This past month has been super hectic. I’ve been preparing for the FTF Affiliate challenge so that I don’t make a complete ass of myself during the competition. In addition we’ve been working on Jerk Block prototypes we plan on selling, and this has taken up a bunch of my free time.
I’ve got some my thoughts on both the new Nano 2.0’s I got a couple months back and a new pair of Rogue Fight shorts that arrived last week.
I’d like to give a shout out first and foremost to CrossFit Tehachapi for all their support. They have opened their gym to me and given some great one on one instruction that has been invaluable.
For example there are just some things that a guy of my size doesn’t feel comfortable doing without someone present the first time. I have never attempted a Hand Stand Push up until recently. Why? I don’t know, mainly because I have sooooo much other stuff to work on, and it just seemed dangerous.
Knowing that I had to take the leap, I decided to try them on my own. After almost putting a hole in my wall and realizing a hospital visit was eminent, I made the call to Melissa of CFT, whose instruction put me on the right track.
Several weeks later, I have no problem getting by big butt vertical, but have a long way to go in that strength department.
CFT has been super supportive of Bilderz.com, and I feel that we have become more than business associates, we’ve become close friends.
Thanks CFT! RT and Melissa you Rock!
Don’t be a Dumb Ass! Attend this event!
Now for those of you who don’t know yet, the FTF Affiliate challenge is coming up next week. I HIGHLY recommend you attend this event. It will be a full two days of competition, packed with more nail biting WOD’s than you can handle. Plus there are a bunch of vendors showing up!
If for nothing else, come support CrossFit FTF and watch me suck wind. I’m competing in the Masters division, but I doubt that will help. I looked up some of the times these guys were posting and it didn’t look good. Maybe they can have a division just for me, they can call in the whiners division.
Anyway it’s all for fun, and really is a good time! Plus the staff at FTF, and the owner Kevin are super cool. If you don’t have anything going on, PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT THIS EVENT. Click here for info, or the big banner at the top of this page.
Some random stuff!
Here are some photos of Bilderz Blocks we have been working on. They are prototypes, and are just a basic idea of what we’re planning. Think heavy-duty jerk blocks, for people on a budget. As soon as we’re ready for production we’re gonna offer some cool deals for our first orders.
Reebok Nano 2.0's
Ok, I have tried out the Nano 2.0’s and I must say I really like them. They are light, they fit perfect, and they don’t rub the back of my heels when wearing short socks (like some other shoes). They are a bit expensive when you do the custom color/design option, but hey it’s pretty cool to get to design a one of a kind shoe.
The only think that I don’t like about the shoe is the lack of cushioning and it’s effect on my knees during longer runs. I’m pushing 230lbs and nothing about me seems graceful. Basically my lower body takes a beating when I run, and after a run with the Nano’s I can feel it big time.
This is not a shoe design problem though; it is a problem with someone like me wanting one shoe to do absolutely everything, which just isn’t practical. I wanted a shoe that was lightweight, that had the ability to do all WOD’s, plus one with a bunch of cushioning, and that just ain’t happening.
I really do love them, and they are my go to shoe when doing most WOD’s, but If I were strictly going on a mile plus run, I’d chose some proper running shoes.
Rogue Fight shorts.
Ok, I had to get some new shorts, especially before the competition. I usually workout alone in my garage gym, so it doesn’t really matter what I wear. My usual shorts are made of loose material and shouldn’t bee seen in public when doing sit-ups nuff said!
I LOVE the Rogue shorts, they have a split up the side which allows you to move around without them feeling tight. They are comfortable, breathe and just look cool. I picked up two pairs with the green logo, which matches the Bilderz colors.
The only drawback I’ve noticed is the lack of a pocket. I know this sounds petty and if you are strictly using them for WOD’s, that’s no big deal. But I find myself hanging out after a workout and wanting someplace to put my phone.
Like I said, it’s not a deal ender, but if I were given the choice of ones with a pocket and ones without, well I’d choose the pocket. Otherwise I highly recommend these shorts, you won’t be disappointed.
Hope this makes up for my lack of writing recently and I promise to get back on track.
To summarize, CrossFit Tehachapi Rocks! Get off your ass next weekend and visit the FTF Affiliate Challenge. Get yourself a pair of Reebok Nano 2.0’s, and Rogue Fight shorts, and don’t forget to check back frequently for updates on our new Jerk blocks.
See you in the hills, or at the FTF Affiliate Challenge sucking wind.
