Just started week six on the Paleo Diet and I lost another three pounds.

  • Font size: Larger Smaller

Week five’s gone and it seems like I just started yesterday. The diet has been hard at times, especially when we run out of proper food in the house, then the temptations start. Since we live out in the country we can’t just run to the store really quick to pick up vegetables, so planning for us is a must.

I guess the change in my appearance has been gradual because I don’t see a huge difference by looking in the mirror. But other people have noticed a lot of change and my clothes are getting a lot baggier.

What does 23 lbs look like?

Although 23 lbs seemed like a lot, it really registered when I got a visual. My 27 lb daughter walks by the other night and I realized that I basically had a small child hanging on my body before the weight loss. Crazy stuff when you put it in perspective.

I hope to keep dropping weight until the games, but the weight isn’t falling off as easy as it was at first. At the end of each week, it seems like I won’t drop anymore, then in the last couple days I drop a couple or more lbs.

Pull -ups

The weight loss has made it definitely easier to do pull-ups. Back in the day I would do sets of ten with a 35 lb weight, but that was around eight years ago and when I was many, many lbs lighter. When I started CrossFit, I weighed well over 260 lbs and could barely do one pull-up. The other day I did one of the WOD’s, which consisted of weighted pull-ups and actually did better than I thought I could. I did two with 70 lbs, two with 53 lbs, and 5 more rounds of two with 35 lbs. Then yesterday I was actually able to do more than ten in a row. I guess I have gotten a bit stronger, but the weight loss doesn’t seem to hurt either.

Gary’s Progress

Gary is starting CrossFit hard core pretty soon. He’s in the process of ordering his own equipment for his own garage gym, which is pretty cool. He found a few places online that sell some equipment cheaper than the brand name stuff. We discussed the stuff he actually needs to get started versus the stuff he’ll rarely use. Something I wish I’d known before I ordered all of my equipment. Not that I don’t love my equipment, but had I known what I know now, I would have made some different selections early on.

Well that’s all that’s been happening on my quest for fitness this past week.

Wish me luck with my diet, and Gary with his garage build.

Oh, one more thing. Gary found me a 500lb tractor tire for my back yard! Can’t wait to get it.

See you in the hills.

Lance
