I live in a small little town tucked away in the mountains a couple hours north of Los Angeles. Stallion Springs is everything you can imagine about a small town. We have one gas station, which is currently the only store. It’s a half hour drive to the large city of Tehachapi when stuck behind a slow driver and a twenty-minute drive when things really get moving.
The greatest thing about living here is that I have access to nature and am able to go for walks, runs and hikes daily. The air is usually crisp and we rarely get the major wind that Tehachapi does.
It snows in the winter and generally melts by the end of the day or next. We get plenty of deer and the occasional elk roaming our streets. Life is easy here and slow, a perfect place to raise a family.
Another aspect that I love is that when you climb above the town it seems like a scene pulled from a time gone by. I have wanted to take some photos that capture what I see and here are a few.
The first is a panorama. I took several shots and used Photoshop to merge them together.
The second is one of the shots pulled from the panorama with no adjustments made to the image.
The third is the same photo, which has numerous adjustments including a “frame”. The plan was to make the photo look like a scene from yesteryear and I love the way it turned out.
Hope you enjoy.
