Week Five just started with the Paleo diet and I lost 20 lbs as of Tuesday!

Amazing is all I can say about the results I’m having with this diet. Twenty whole pounds lost as of last Tuesday morning. It still seems a little surreal though, almost like someone is messing with the scale. I look in the mirror and of course I can’t see a difference, but I guess the scale doesn’t lie nor does the way my clothes fit. I still have a gut though but I figured that would be the last to go because it has the highest concentration of fat on my body.

Mayra took a few measurements with a tape and I lost inches all over my body, even in areas that I thought had no fat. My legs and arms seemed pretty muscular, but I actually lost a half an inch in both. I guess there was fat hidden there somewhere.

As for the recommendation that I increase my fat intake a bit to help my energy levels, it worked. My energy levels have increased, yet I’m still a bit tired at the end of the day but I think it’s from a lack of sleep. I know I should be getting more, but with the movie project, family and work etc. There never seems to be enough time.

Strength Issues?

My strength hasn’t gone down, but I am not doing more pull ups than before either, which could mean a bunch of things. I guess I’m going to have to see where I stand in the long run before I make a final decision on strength loss. All I know is that I’m far behind some of the weight some of the guys posting on the main site are doing. Honestly, for not being power lifters, some of these guys are animals.

Reaching my Goal.

My goal was to drop 2 to 4 lbs each week for the 12 weeks leading up to the games. At the current rate of loss I’m achieving, I will reach that goal way earlier than expected. We’ll see if I can get down to the 210 lb range in time for the games, which I think is a much better weight for me and should leave me pretty lean. Not that I’m competing or even close to that, but it would be nice to look like CrossFit has accomplished something with my body after almost a year and a half.

Wish me luck with my diet!

See you in the hills.

Lance
