Week seven of the Paleo Diet and I lost another three pounds plus I got some new toys!

  • Font size: Larger Smaller

It’s been seven weeks and I’m halfway through to the games and the diet has far exceeded my expectations. My original goal was to drop down to around 221 lbs by the end of 12 weeks (July 31st). Well I am only seven lbs from that goal and I still have 6 weeks to go, amazing is all I can say!

I have had a few cheat meals, usually on the weekends, but haven’t noticed any gain in fat from the occasional cheats. I am still trying to figure out if the cheats have had an effect on my energy levels. For example I tore up a few slices of pizza with the rest of the crew this past weekend on the first day of shooting the new movie. Afterward I felt a little sluggish on pull-ups, but I don’t know if it was from the pizza or because I was pretty tired from the long weekend of filming.

I’m improving but slowly.

Yesterdays WOD was a regional games workout. 100 pull-ups, 100 KB swings, 100 Double-Unders and 100 Overhead squats. Needless to say I scaled that baby way back and did 25 of each. The hardest exercises were the Double-Unders (Which I have yet to complete one) and Overhead Squats, both of which require a lot more practice. On the plus side I am finally flexible enough to add weight to the bar during the Overhead Squats, which is a huge improvement over just using a broomstick. Thanks to the endless Shoulder Dislocates Stretches, I am very slowly improving on my flexibility, which has increased my ability to do the exercise properly.

Yep I got some new toys!

I got a couple new toys for the gym thanks to Gary (AKA the beast). I have been looking for a flipping tire for a while and finally asked if Gary if he knew anyone who had some lying around. He made a few phone calls, made a few deals and more than came through. This past weekend he showed up pre-shoot and delivered not one but two tires. One is around 450-480 lbs and the other is over a 1000 lbs. Obviously we aint flipping the big momma, but it is still great for box jumps. It is 30 inches high when laying on it’s side and is super stable.

As for the smaller tire, it isn’t that bad to flip, but still heavy as heck. On my first workout I flipped it across the entire back yard and back without resting. I figure if I add other components to the WOD it will be a pretty brutal workout, which is always good. Now all I need to do is put a door in the workout room that leads to the backyard, add a couple in ground pull-up bars and I’m set.

Anyone who wants to do a WOD is always welcome, heck maybe we can even flip tires together.

See you in the hills.
