Last week I was on Facebook and while going through status updates a photo caught my eye and stopped my scrolling dead. Pictured was a horrible box jump gone wrong injury in full color. I’m pretty squeamish so I usually bypass those posts, the ones with accidents etc, never get a second look. Heck I even leave the room during particularly grisly movie horror scenes. But this was different. This was a box jump injury, so I had to look for my own protection and those I train.

For those do it yourselfers, and people without deep pockets, the idea of spending big bucks on a technique bar seems ridiculous. I am a big believer in PVC pipe for learning, but at some stage a person has to move up in weight.

There are a bunch of choices for outfitting your CrossFit box or garage gym these days. You have an empty space and need to fill it, but with what? To simplify the process and save you hours doing searches I’ve down the work for you. The list is in no particular order. Recently we made a temporary move after selling our house. We are currently leasing a home until we decide where we want to move for good, but that’s another article. The move only interrupted my training for a short time because where there is a will, there is a way.

Top 10 Wod tracking websites apps and books.

SmallChartwod.png

I love to save my readers time. This week is no exception. Here are ten links to the most popular WOD tracking websites, apps and logbooks. I’m not giving a preference here, so do your research. I have tried several in the list, but understand that each person will want features that I may or may not need or want.  Since I have not tried them all, I can’t give an honest opinion of which I like best, so I’ll leave that up to you. Some offer a free trial, some don’t. If you know of any more, not mentioned here, please add them to the comment section below. If you have used a particular product we’d love to hear about your experience as well.

Some Pulling, Jerk and Technique weightlifting Blocks DIY and Purchase links I found.

pullingboxes.png

Here are a bunch of DIY and Purchase links I found when searching for Pulling/Jerk/Technique weightlifting blocks for my gym. At this point I still haven’t made a decision at which route I’m going (build or buy). I’m not going into any discussion here as to which route is better; you can make up your own mind. I am leaning towards building though, since the price to purchase most off the shelf blocks seems a bit ridiculous. I am NOT recommending any product or DIY link hear, so buyer/builder beware. This list is just to help you in your search; basically I did the work so you didn’t have to and if you get hurt (DIY), or the product you purchase is junk, you’re on your own. The links are pretty random but will give you an easy place to start if you want to either build or buy some. This list is by no means definitive, but should point you in the right direction.

My combination pull up and ring station for my garage gym.

Well I finally reached the limit on what I could accomplish on my door mounted pull-up bar, and since it’s winter here, using the rings on the large oak out front isn’t always feasible, let alone safe. I needed something sturdy that could support me (Still 214 lbs) and wouldn’t break the bank. So the search was on, yet again, for the best solution.
